Description
The Blue Division The Spanish Infantry Division was a military unit formed by Spanish volunteers who fought alongside the German Nazi army in the Soviet Union during World War II, between 1941 and 1944. It was sent as part of its support for Nazi Germany, although Spain was not officially involved in the conflict. The Division fought mainly on the Eastern Front, in the Battle of Leningrad, and had a controversial role, both in Spain and in other countries. Its withdrawal in 1944 marked the end of this collaboration, but left a legacy of debates about the relationship between Spain and the Axis powers.
